Hailing from Tirol, Austria Guntram Halder has been the principal trombonist at the Deutsche Oper Berlin since 2002. He began his career performing with the Philharmonic Orchestra in Augsburg, the Gürzenich-Orchester Cologne and the Orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin. Halder has since performed with many world-class orchestras such as the Berlin, Vienna and Munich Philharmonic, Staatskapelle Dresden, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Radio Symphony Orchestras in Munich and Berlin as well as with Opera Houses in Vienna, Munich, Hamburg and Cologne. He has also performed with a number of renowned conductors that include Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Sir Simon Rattle, Kirill Petrenko, Riccardo Muti, Christian Thielemann, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Bernard Haitink, Donald Runnicles and others. Halder received his early training in trombone at the “Landesmusikschule” in Tirol/Austria and completed his studies with professors Michael Stern and Wolfram Arndt at the “Hochschule für Musik und Theater” in Munich. Since summer of 2017 he plays the bass trumpet in the orchestra of the Richard-Wagner-Festival in Bayreuth.
